Learn About The Bogner Cube 1x12 Cab In This Gear Review!

Overview

Generally if you see the name Bogner on something you can expect two things, a big price tag and a high quality product. The Bogner Cube 1x12 does not disappoint. The ported birch cab and your choice of a Celestion Vintage 30 or Classic 80 work together to make a formula for a heavy sounding little cab that doesn’t take up much space.

Price   -   7/10

$539.00
Pretty expensive for a box of birch with a vintage 30 inside of it. You are really paying for the Bogner name and quality.

Sound Quality   -   9/10

This little cab delivers a lot of low end in a small package. The particular model that I was checking out was the one with the Vintage 30. I did notice that the closed back made the over all sound of the cab better for heavy chunky rhythm sounds that it was for nice clean, open, glassy tones. That’s not necessarily bad, that’s just what this cab is made for. The Cube is awesome for getting a thick, heavy sound without lugging around a 4x12 cab. Great cab to mic and make sound like a full stack..

Build Quality   -   9/10

No complaints here, I could toss it down the stairs and it would be fine! Celestions are always hearty and the quality birch cab is nice and solid. I particularly like the style of the grill on this model.

Features   -   9/10

• Closed back
• Dual ports on front
• Multi-ply birch cab
• Your choice of Celestion Vintage 30 or Classic 80
• Dimensions: 17 1/2" x 18 3/4" x 11 7/8"
• Weight 40 lbs.

Ease of Use   -   9/10

Doesn’t get much easier than this. Plug your amp or head in and go. It is quite heavy for as small as it is. I guess that makes it a little hard to use unless you never move it.

Pros

• Lots of low end
• Don’t have to lug around a 4x12 cab to get a good heavy sound

Cons

• Very expensive
• Pretty heavy for something so small
• Not so great for nice open bell like sounds
• Tends to lend itself to more aggressive music that requires a lot of low end

Overall Rating   -   8.6/10

This cab is super high quality and the prestige that comes with owning something with the Bogner name on it is nice. I would recommend the Bogner Cube if you have a lot of extra cash and need a 1x12 extension cab that specializes in lots of heavy low end in a small package. The Cube is also a great option if you already have an open back combo but want to add a bit of low end or heaviness to your rig. If you are looking for something a little more open and clean or if you are on a budget you might want to look at some other options.
