Overview
I needed a basic no frills wah pedal for a specific gig so I went down to the music store and bought a Dunlop Crybaby Classic. That is exactly what this pedal is, a simple no frills wah pedal that gets the job done. The tone on this guy is not the most amazing I have ever heard but it sounds like a wah and it is pretty reliable.
Price - 8.5/10
$79.99 - $99.99
Sound Quality - 7.5/10
It’s a pretty standard wah pedal. It gets the job done if you need a wah sound but it is not really special sounding.
Build Quality - 8/10
This pedal is pretty hefty. The only complaint that I have is that the clip that holds the 9V battery is pretty fragile. I have known quite a few people who have had these clips break on them.
Features - 7.5/10
• Heavy-duty die-cast metal construction
• Original Fasel inductor for a classic sound
Ease of Use - 8/10
Very easy to use. Just power it up with a 9V battery or a power supply and plug in. Press down hard on the pedal with your foot to turn on and press again to turn off. Make sure to be careful when changing the battery. The clip can break pretty easily.
Pros
• Standard wah sound that doesn’t break the bank
• Easy to use
• Pretty rugged
• Quite a bit smoother sounding than the Original Crybaby
Cons
• Pretty generic sounding
• Power supply not included
• Battery clip breaks quite often if you are not careful
Overall Rating - 7.9/10
This wah is the generic workhorse of all wah pedals. If you need a wah pedal and want to keep it under $100 this is a good option to go with. If you want something with a little nicer tone or more options you will probably have to shuck out some more cash. I am not really a wah player but this pedal is nice to have around and it was pretty inexpensive.
