Overview

The Boss ME-70 is the next incarnation of the ME-50 that has been out for a long time now. The best thing about the ME-70 is that the guys at Boss finally added some amp models to the unit. Now, if you want to just plug straight in to an audio interface or a P.A. you can do that with the ME-70.

Lots of effects and loads of cool features make this offering by Boss pretty irresistible for the price. The ME-70 is a great alternative to some of the more complex and more expensive floor based multi effects modeling units.

Price   -   8.5/10

$299.00 Pretty good price compared to most of it's competition.

Sound Quality   -   7.5/10

The ME-70 is definitely a step up from the ME-50. The amp modeling makes this unit way more usable in many different applications. Having said that, I am not a huge fan of amp modeling but it is pretty convenient for recording, practicing and playing in live situations where you can’t use an amp.

When compared to other brand that use amp modeling technology the ME-70 is no better or worse than any other products out there. The effects are your standard boss quality staples.

Build Quality   -   8.5/10

It’s a Boss and the casing is made of metal. What else could you want. Should last until your grand kids inherit it.

Ease of Use   -   9/10

I love how all of the knobs are laid out on the ME-70. There are no menus to slow you down. Creating new patches and editing old ones is quick and easy. If you are recording direct or using a D.I. to go into a P.A. this thing makes that super simple. All you need is the ME-70 your guitar and a cable.

Pros

• All in one effects and pre amp solution
• Lots of effects
• Not too expensive
• Boss build quality

Cons

• No power supply included
• Just a bit digital sounding

Overall Rating   -   8.5/10

The ME-70 is a big improvement over the ME-50. It has all of the effects that you need and the new amp models make it versatile enough to cover just about any style of music.

I recommend the ME-70 if you want something that has a lot of effects and is simple and easy to use. If you want something that gives you a lot of crazy options and a lot of detailed controls this might not be the option for you.
