Have you ever wondered if it’s worth upgrading your current guitar instead of buying a new one? Upgrading your guitar can be a great way to get a lot more guitar for your money. And it’ll even help curb your G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).
In this video, we’ll take a Squier Stratocaster we picked up for $75 used and upgrade it with $600 worth of parts. We will be replacing the pickups, tuners, saddles, string trees, nut, strap buttons, 5-way switch, volume and tone pots, and the pickguard. Once we’re finished with it, this guitar should feel and sound like a guitar twice its price.
The guitar we’ll be comparing our newly upgraded Strat to is an American-made Fender Stratocaster worth about $1200. Hopefully, this video will help you make a more informed decision when you’re ready to get a new electric guitar.
