If I asked you to name the most iconic guitar riffs of all time, “Crazy Train” would easily make everyone’s top 10 list. Randy Rhoads was an incredible guitar player and musician and co-wrote this song with Ozzy Osbourne. In this video, we’re joined by our good friend DJ Temple, to dissect the riff and learn it.
If you’re finding this riff to be a challenge, it’s derived from a basic minor scale pattern that you can practice on its own to get the hang of it. Be sure to place your thumb on the back of the neck to put your hand in a comfortable position to hit all the notes easily. Once you’ve learned this lick, try learning the rest of the song or maybe another Ozzy Osbourne song!
